Emergency DNS Server Maintenance
Wed, 29 Jul 2009 0146 UTCOn 28 July 2009 at 21:00 UTC, we were made aware of a DoS vulnerability in the BIND DNS server software used in our network. As a result, Dyn Inc. mobilized its Operations Team to perform emergency nameserver maintenance across the entire Dyn Inc. infrastructure, including dyndns.org, mydyndns.org, DynTLD, Dynect Platform, and Recursive DNS service systems. Proactive monitoring by our Network Operations Center revealed that at no time were any Dyn Inc. systems impacted by this vulnerability.
The emergency maintenance caused intermittent degradations in DNS resolution service as name server software was upgraded throughout the network. No outages of DNS resolution occurred.
